AUDIO CABLES

In an EMOSON surround system, each channel travels through an independent cable from the sound card to the speaker. The cable type depends on your speakers: 3.5mm aux for most, RCA for mid-to-high-end equipment, or speaker wire for passive speakers with an amplifier.

Cable types

• 3.5mm aux cable: The most common. Connects the sound card output to the speakers' line-in input. Available in multiple lengths — choose based on the distance between the card and each speaker.

• RCA cable: Used in mid-to-high-end speakers. Two connectors (red and white) per channel. Better signal quality than aux, especially over long distances.

• Speaker wire: For passive speakers connected to an external amplifier. Two cables (positive and negative) per speaker. Used with configurations that include a dedicated amplifier.

Adapters

When connectors don't match, adapters save the day. The most common are:

• 2 RCA to 3.5mm: Converts two RCA inputs on the speaker to a 3.5mm jack from the card. Essential if your card only has 3.5mm output and your speakers have RCA inputs.

• RCA to 3.5mm: Simple single-channel adapter. Useful for connecting one speaker at a time or in mixed configurations.

Tips

• Use cables of the right length — excess cable causes signal loss and clutter.

• For long distances (over 5m), prefer RCA or thicker speaker wire.

• Adapters don't reduce quality if they're from a good brand. Avoid the cheapest ones.
